Illinois residents can register to vote online. Click this link and follow the instructions for online registration. Online voter registration is encouraged, because then you are instantly registered, instead of needing to wait for paperwork to be mailed and processed.
If online voter registration is not preferred, a limited number of our staff members are trained Voter Registrars who can assist you in signing up to become a registered voter. It is recommended that you call the Library before stopping in to make sure a Voter Registrar is working: 815-469-2423.
APPLICANTS MUST:
- Be a U.S. Citizen by birth or naturalization
- Be 18 years of age by election day
- Be a resident of their precinct 30 days prior to election
- Provide two forms of identification, and one must show the current residence address of the applicant and provide proof of age. Suggested forms of ID are:

- State ID Card
- Utility Bill
- Checkbook
- Library Card
- Credit Card
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- Employee ID Card
- Student ID Card
- Insurance Card
