3D Printing
3D Printing is the process of building objects using layers of melted plastic to specific guidelines. Every 3D print starts with a 3D file. To find downloadable files other people have made, start with Thingiverse. To start making your own files, start with Tinkercad. The following free programs are available on Lab computers:
We periodically offer classes for these programs. Printing costs $.10 per gram of filament. View our 3D Printer Terms of Service. To submit a 3D print request, send an .STL or .OBJ file email the Lab.
CNC Milling
Where 3D printing is additive manufacturing, CNC Milling is subtractive manufacturing. You make something by cutting away material. Our CNC Mill can cut materials like wood, linoleum, and plastic. We have classes for making stamps, jewelry, and cutting boards.
Sewing
We have 4 Brother sewing machines. Check our schedule for upcoming sewing classes. Past classes have included hemming pants, making zippered bags, making lavender eye pillows, and sewing infinity scarves.
Vinyl & Paper Cutting
Use our Silhouette Cameo which can cut cardstock, sticker paper, heat transfer vinyl, and stencil material. Make your own greeting cards, iron-on decals, and other papercrafts. We have material to purchase, but feel free to bring your own.
