Adult Services Librarian
Join our team! We are a tech-savvy, customer-service focused library looking for a friendly, creative, and dynamic person to work in our Adult Services Department. In addition to staffing a public desk, our Adult Services Department offers a wide variety of arts & crafts programs, lectures, book discussions, special events, and hands-on technology classes, including 3D print design, laser-printing with our Glowforge, and other projects in our Makerspace. Responsibilities
May act as a person-in-charge when supervisors aren’t present: opening and closing the Library, interpreting & enforcing library policies.
Provide reference and reader’s advisory services. Assist individuals of all ages in finding information, locating and suggesting materials, and conducting research inquiries.
Maintain a working knowledge of adult literature, movies, popular culture, and trends.
Provide instruction on the Library’s digital platforms, databases, and other resources.
Assist patrons with technology – email, Microsoft Office products, internet navigation, printing station, etc.
Design, implement, and evaluate Library programs, including hands-on technology and makerspace projects.
Create and maintain displays and booklists that promote the Library’s collections.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MLS from an ALA accredited graduate library school or equivalent education level is required. Current MLS students are welcome to apply.
One year experience working in a public library or equivalent setting.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
The ability to communicate effectively, use good judgment in the decision making process, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Hours: This part time position is 22-25 hours per week, including days, evenings, and weekends
Salary: $22.75-$26.50/hour depending on qualifications
